Preliminary management implications for black bears, Ursus americanus, in the Catskill region of New York State as the result of an ecological study

Abstract

This study looks at the hunter ‘legal take’ and trap-tagged-released black bears in the Catskill regions between 1970 and 1973 to help develop a policy for future management. The authors identified two distinct populations in the Catskill region and determine some tentative conclusions about their size and geographic extent.
